How To Remove Blackheads with Hydrogen Peroxide
Today I am going to talk about something most of us find really annoying – blackheads, a very common skin problem. They occur when your pores become clogged with excess sebum and dead skin cells. The difference between a blackhead and a whitehead is simply whether the pore is open or not. If the pore is open, the plug of sebum/skin cells oxidizes with the oxygen in the air, which turns it black. Blackheads are not caused by dirt. Excess scrubbing would actually make the blackheads worse and you would end up making your skin dry.
Now the question is what is hydrogen peroxide?
Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical compound which is chemically represented as H2O2. In its pure form, it is a color less liquid. You can get diluted hydrogen peroxide at any chemist. It would cost INR 35-50.
How to use hydrogen peroxide to remove blackheads?
Step 1: Cleanse your face using a mild cleanser to remove excess dirt, makeup, impurities from the skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate the areas with blackheads. Use a mild exfoliator or you can also mix honey and sugar and use it as an exfoliator.
Step 3: Now, after preparing your skin for hydrogen peroxide treatment, take a cotton ball and add 3% hydrogen peroxide on the cotton ball.
Step 4: Dab the cotton ball on the blackheads area, be very careful to not to apply it on your eye brows or hair as it would bleach your hair.
Step 5: Moisturize the area with olive oil. Massage a few drops of olive oil on the blackhead area when it is still wet with the hydrogen peroxide. The olive oil would soften and smoothen the skin and would protect skin by retaining moisture.
This treatment would dissolve the blackheads without any pain. If you have blackheads, try this method girls. But, if you have sensitive skin, consult your doctor or do a patch test before using this. As this is a chemical, it could react if you have extremely sensitive skin.
